Following the cadence of our previously successful Little Feat releases: “Waiting For Columbus” Super Deluxe in 2022 and “Sailin’ Shoes” + “Dixie Chicken” Deluxe albums in 2023, this new offering ‘Feat Don’t Fail Me Now’ includes the original studio album cut from the analog tapes for the double LP and a newly remastered version plus a previously unreleased live show recording on the 3CD. Both CD & LP feature a rarities disc of previously unreleased studio outtakes that were once thought to be lost when the recording studio located on a boat in Maryland sank in the late 70’s. While it is true that some did sink, this is what remains from those sessions. The previously unreleased live show that appears on the CD is from the Warner Bros. Music Show tour of Europe in January/February 1975. This is the tour where Little Feat’s star truly rose in Europe and where LF would routinely blow their tour mates off the stage—including The Doobie Brothers, Tower of Power and Montrose.

Sam’s Place is Little Feat’s tribute to the blues with percussionist Sam Clayton taking center stage as lead vocalist. It’s also their first studio album with Scott Sharrard on guitar and Tony Leone on drums along with longtime members Bill Payne on keys, Kenny Gradney on bass, and Fred Tackett on guitar. The album was recorded in Memphis, TN at Sam’s Phillips Studio and produced by Little Feat and Charles A. Martinez.

When Rhino gave an official vinyl release to the legendary Little Feat bootleg Electrif Lycanthrope for a 2021 Record Store Day, fans of the band were—at least as much as fans of any band ever can be—actually satisfied. That album was culled from a 1974 radio broadcast performance and had long been the stuff of legends among collectors, as it presented the band at the beginning of their long creative peak, performing in a relaxed and up-close atmosphere. Couple that with 2002’s excellent expanded edition of Waiting for Columbus (which tacked on about a dozen previously unreleased live tracks from the original album’s shows), and you’ve got some amazing and in-depth evidence for this band’s live legacy. But that was two decades ago. Waiting for Columbus has long been considered one of the best live albums of all time, so why not stretch that thing out to a 73-track 20th anniversary super deluxe edition?
