The album “Free at Three” was recorded in the spring of 2020 in just one session at the Orange Studio Moscow and is an example of a motley fusion with elements of bossanova and folk. The musicians of the RIG are somewhat sly, calling themselves a completely improvisational line — up-to keep the structure, rhythm and passion, they think through the logical structure of their compositions, writing all the sequences in the score. However, this does not prevent them from creating formidable post-jazz action films and, processing their sound through lotions and electronics, easily enter the territories of drone and noise, and sometimes even daring glitch. In addition, in” Free at Three ” there are real revelations when violist Alina Petrova suddenly begins to sing vocalises, her voice is echoed by the melodic sax of Khramtsevich, and the resulting folk sketch is aesthetically colored by the unrestrained rhythm section of Shutikov and Grigorieva.
