The Geiger von Echternach deals with the origins of the Echternach Jumping Procession, which dates back to the Middle Ages and is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The ballad tells the story of Tall Veit, who on his return from the Orient is sentenced to death by hanging for allegedly killing his wife. The composer and poet are equally interested in a detailed description of the different emotional states of the musician Veits, which modulate his violin playing and move the listener more and more until they fall into a dance rage from which only Saint Willibrord can free them.

Born in Münster / Westphalia in 1956, Klaus Ospald is one of the most renowned German composers of contemporary music. He studied composition in Detmold and Würzburg, and also as a master student with Helmut Lachenmann. His works are performed by internationally renowned performers and orchestras. Important organizers and festivals of contemporary music arrange premieres of his works. Klaus Ospald has received numerous awards, most recently the International Hanns Eisler Scholarship of the City of Leipzig 2022. – The BR-KLASSIK CD presents Ospald’s “Más raíz, menos criatura” in a live recording of a performance on November 22, 2019 in a musica viva concert in the Herkulessaal of the Munich Residence and his “Quintett von den entlegenen Feldern” recorded on May 25, 2019 in the Laboratory for Fluid Mechanics and Hydraulic Machines of Coburg University.

This compilation includes selected works by the noted Renaissance composer Ludwig Senfl, who was an important student of Heinrich Isaac. In 1523 Senfl joined the Munich court orchestra at the court of Maximilian I, where he worked until his death. Singer Pur will perform these pieces at their Singer Pur Tage festival, and at the 2023 Medieval and Renaissance Music Conference in Munich.

Singer Pur is a German vocal sextet founded in 1991 by former members of the Regensburger Domspatzen. The five original members were joined by a soprano in 1994. The sextet is focussed on classical music, but who have also performed and recorded traditional folk songs and pop music. Singer Pur have recorded more than 30 CDs. Singer Pur have given concerts and workshops in nearly 60 countries all over the world.
