SAXON UNLEASH HELL, FIRE AND DAMNATION Saxon proudly release their latest album Hell, Fire And Damnation on January 19th 2024, and when internationally-renowned actor Brian Blessed OBE delivers a proclamation for opening track, “The Prophecy”, expectations are automatically high. Have no fear and make no mistake, Saxon meet and exceed them on their 24th studio release, creating a superlative British Heavy Metal classic which strides the perfect line between confident, current power, and gloriously irreverent flexing of the New Wave of British Heavy Metal muscle which Saxon co-created. There is supreme confidence in every performance. Biff Byford delivers his richest vocals in years, Nigel Glockler and Nibbs Carter on drums and bass respectively lay down the rhythmic law with thunderous power, and the guitars of Doug Scarratt and Brian Tatler are fresh and fiery, a perfect complement to each other, and carrying an overall energy and fury which will have fans salivating. Lyrically, Byford enjoys investigating all areas of both history and mystery, with Marie Antoinette, Kubla Khan, the Battle of Hastings, the Salem witch trials and the fight between good and evil on the title track all in the mix. Musically, Saxon bring it all to the table. There’s a furious tribute to actual heavy metal in the denim & leather coated super-sprint “Fire And Steel”, a wonderful nod to the NWOBHM’s birth in the electric mid-pace “Pirates Of The Airwaves”, but maybe the true treasure amidst the jewels is “There’s Something In Roswell”, with the sort of expansive groove and embrace which deserves arenas. Add to this excellent production by Biff and Andy Sneap (Sneap also mixed and mastered Hell, Fire And Damnation) and you have Saxon’s most definitive statement in years.

UK rockers Saxon release their 21st album entitled „Battering Ram“. The release sees the band return to their NWOBHM roots and builds on their previous heavier releases in recent years but with more of a classic sound.
With Biff Byford singing as well as he ever has, Paul Quinn and Doug Scarratt making full use of the term ‘shredding’ with their guitars and the lock-steady rhythm of Nibbs Carter’s bass and Nigel Glockler’s drums, the future and the past crash together in an ear-scintillatingly engaging, raucous, melodic-yet-classically heavy ten songs collection which will instantly be hailed as a Saxon classic. The title track, with its delectable twin guitar assault heralding the album’s commencement, gives the listener an instant crack around the chops, whilst traditionalists will be delighted to hear such a perfect marriage of old, classic Saxon with the newer, fresher invective in such riff-fronted fare as “Destroyer” and “Stand Your Ground”, but there are still moments of space and exploration which fans will love. “This one’s a natural progression from Sacrifice,” says Byford, “There’s a bit less rock’n’roll and a bit more ‘heavy’ on it. We wanted to keep focused on a style rather than moving around too much.”

Produced by Andy Sneap (Megadeth, Testament, Exodus Accept) at his Backstage Recording Studios in rural Derbyshire, Saxon were able to hone in and whittle down any excess, finding the sonic space and balance to let Battering Ram’s riffs and melodies get the necessary space to scream front and center. Saxon have once again established their rightly-venerated credentials as Kings and vanguards of heavy metal music.
‘Some of it is quite brutal, but there’s quite a lot of melodic stuff on there as well. Every SAXON album is different to the one before because we like to entertain people and we don’t really like to write the same song all the time.’ –Biff Byford

Saxon was there with Elrond 3000 years ago when Sauron fell. Saxon has more albums than some of you have years on Earth. Saxon will still be releasing albums long after you are dust crumbs. These are truisms metal fans must accept before moving on and living a happy and productive existence. Now Saxon‘s 23rd fucking album is here, and it’s titled, Carpe Diem. And what can you expect to find when you follow instructions and seize the day? The same vintage NWoBHM goods Saxon has churned out like clockwork for 40-plus years. It’s anthemic 80s metal with one foot in the past and the other in the grave (yours not theirs). However, there must have been something unusual going on at Saxon HQ when they crafted this album. It’s one of the heaviest, most consistently ass-kicking efforts the band’s managed in many years and the material sounds full of piss, apple cider vinegar, and brimstone (and cloves). Song after song showcases the band’s ability to forge classic metal tuneage sure to trigger waves of nostalgia in anyone old as dirt like Finely Aged Steel. Though I’ve enjoyed the past few releases, I’m surprised and impressed by the improvement these proper geezers have managed here.

2023 release. British Heavy Metal legends, Saxon, return with a second ‘deep dish’ serving of the inspirations which have fed their immensely successful 40+ year career. Whether unveiling a sensational take on The Sensational Alex Harvey Band’s “The Faith Healer”, getting feral with The Animal’s “We’ve Gotta Get Out Of This Place”, letting loose a high-octane take on Alice Cooper’s “From The Inside”, or laying down a ferocious tribute to KISS’ “Detroit Rock City”, More Inspirations is a joyous trip into the sounds which galvanized the Barnsley boys and continue to get spun on home stereos and tour buses. Produced by vocalist/co-founder Biff Byford, with Seb Byford helping record the music alongside mixing engineer Jacky Lehmann, More Inspirations also includes enthusiastic takes on Alice Cooper, Rainbow, ZZ Top and Cream, as well as a thunderous “Razamanaz” by Nazareth, a tasty take on The Who’s “Substitute”, and a thick groove take on Uriah Heep’s “Gypsy”.

British heavy metal legends SAXON continue their detailed documentation of life on the road with “Warriors Of The Road – The Saxon Chronicles Part II”, to be released in Europe on November 7 and in North America on November 25. The set features extensive coverage of the band’s 2013 appearance at the UK’s Steelhouse festival plus full performances from the Wacken Open Air and Download festivals in 2012 and Graspop Metal Meeting in 2013. A further bonus disc will carry the Steelhouse festival set on CD.
This jam-packed collection of some recent SAXON road triumphs is the successor to 2001’s “Chronicles” release, which admirably documented many elements of SAXON’s earlier career.  “Warriors Of The Road” proudly maintains that tradition and bumps it up a notch by charting the return of the famous stage eagle back from Hamburg to a British show for the first time in decades, documenting the Steelhouse festival from dawn until long after the midnight hour. In the process, fans are given further personal insights into the band members, Paul Quinn (guitar), Nibbs Carter (bass), Nigel Glockler (drums) and Doug Scarratt (guitar) and the main man, Biff Byford.
Tales of tea and other leaves are told among other stories which come together to explain why the boys have enjoyed such an amazing, enduring and successful SAX-life on the road for 35 years.
To celebrate “Warriors Of The Road – The Saxon Chronicles Part II”, the band will be doing what they instinctively know best as they hit the road for a 36-date European tour which starts in Athens, Greece on October 25 and ends on December 13 in the UK at the O2 Shepherd’s Bush Empire… with plenty of Europe in the middle!

British heavy metal legends SAXON will release “Let Me Feel Your Power”, their tenth live album, on September 23 in Europe and October 7 in North America via UDR Music. The 16-track album was recorded in Munich, Germany during November 2015 and Brighton in January 2016, with bonus material from Chicago in September 2015.

In a 2015 interview with 100 Percent Rock magazine, SAXON frontman Biff Byford spoke about the difficulty of putting together setlist for the band’s tours. He said: “Yeah, it is difficult with the setlist, because you can’t play for as long as we’d like. It’s difficult to please people, because you get quite a lot of new fans that come to concerts, they want to hear the old songs, and some of the guys that have been coming for years have heard the old songs too much and they want something new, so it’s a nightmare. “You can never please everyone and it’s actually a bit stupid trying, really,” he continued. “Just put some good songs together and promote the new album, and that’s where to be, really.”

Byford added that he is mostly proud of all SAXON has achieved in its forty-year existence. Have SAXON achieved everything I initially dreamed the band could? More or less,” he said. “There were certainly countries we probably could have been bigger in. Australia’s one of them, places like that. I don’t think our management at that time really thought we’d ever be anything more than a British band, you know what I mean? I don’t think their vision included the world. It is a shame, because I think ‘Wheels Of Steel’ and those albums could have been much more in people’s minds outside Europe. I mean, America was all right, we did okay in America, but other countries could have gone better, I think. But I think we’ve achieved most everything, really. You know, we’re still making great albums, so I suppose that’s something.”
