Rob Simonsen has had a thread in the fabric of some of the most noteworthy and prestigious films of the past decade. He collaborated with director Bennett Miller to underline the unsettling atmosphere of the Oscar-nominated drama Foxcatcher, and spanned an eternity of star-crossed romance with The Age of Adaline, also co-writing the film’s end credits song. He scored the Steve Carell-starring dramedy The Way Way Back with sensitivity, sympathized with the coming-of-age The Spectacular Now, and sweetened Zach Braff’s coming-of-middle-age film Wish I Was Here. Also under his belt is the horror-comedy The Master Cleanse, Roland Emmerich’s political drama Stonewall, and the Weinstein Company’s Burnt starring Bradley Cooper, Uma Thurman and Sienna Miller. His work in television has included the Joss Whedon Fox drama Dollhouse and the CBS ratings juggernaut Blue bloods, led by Tom Selleck.

Composer, producer, multi-instrumentalist, artist and co-founder of Los Angeles’ artist collective The Echo Society, Rob Simonsen has contributed to almost a hundred film and television soundtracks in the two decades since he was first asked to provide piano solos to a movie made by high school friends. Having developed a presence in the Portland independent circuit with his first formal commission, Westender (2003), he was invited to assist veteran composer Mychael Danna, and in 2004 relocated to Los Angeles, where he contributed music to Danna’s Academy® Award-winning score for 2012’s Life of Pi, as well as Surf’s Up (2007), The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus (2009), and Moneyball (2011). He and Danna also co-scored (500) Days of Summer in 2009, helping to establish Simonsen as a sought-after talent in his own right. Since then, Simonsen’s composed music for 2015 s The Age of Adaline for which he co-wrote the end credits theme in addition to a slew of other films, including The Spectacular Now (2013), The Foxcatcher (2015), Tully (2018), Love, Simon (2018), The Front Runner (2019) and Captive State (2019). In addition, Simonsen will launch his solo artist career in 2019 with his debut full-length album, Rêveries, for Sony Masterworks.

The Adam Project is an upcoming American science fiction film directed by Shawn Levy, and written by Jonathan Tropper, T.S. Nowlin, Jennifer Flackett, and Mark Levin. The film stars Ryan Reynolds (who also produces), Mark Ruffalo, Jennifer Garner, Walker Scobell, Catherine Keener, and Zoe Saldaña.
Production on the film first began in 2012, with Tom Cruise attached to star. The film then fell into development hell until Netflix acquired the distribution rights from Paramount Pictures in July 2020. Filming commenced on November 2020 and wrapped in March 2021. The film is scheduled to be released on Netflix on March 11, 2022.
