Albinoni is associated with ” the ” adagio of classical music par excellence. However, it does not come from the genius Venetian, but from the pen of the musicologist Remo Giazotto, who composed it in the 1950s according to fragments attributed to Albinoni. About ten years later, the great conductor Claudio Scimone set out with his chamber orchestra I Solisti Veneti to explore the true Albinoni over a long period of time. This record – historical feat forms the repertoire of the anniversary box-above all with an overwhelming number of instrumental concerts, but also many other discoveries. The composer, who by the way was highly regarded by his German colleague Johann Sebastian Bach, is said to have written 50 operas. Most of them have not survived. An exception is the Festa pastorale Il Nascimento dell’Aurora – a work based on ancient mythologies that Albinoni composed for a birthday celebration in the high nobility and which can be heard here in a live recording from 1983. Other vocal recitals are the Intermezzo Pimpinone and the Serenata Il concilio de ‘ pianeti.
