Bach and his keyboards für Kenner und Liebhaber allow us to enter into a forgotten world of sound where various keyboard instruments, especially those strings that are struck, mix and mingle, revealing new colours and accents. C. P. E. Bach’s work explores this broad expressive palette that enables him to evoke successively, or sometimes abruptly, the affable and tender grace of the songs to the dry anguish of break-ups, joyful liveliness to sad melancholy.

Hélène Jourdan Mourhange met Ravel for the first time after a concert in which she performed his Trio. She was an interesting, intelligent woman, well versed in the arts and culture of her time, and was a talented violinist who, however, had to stop playing years later due to rheumatoid arthritis. She then dedicated herself to musicology, reviews and other artistic activities. Not only that she was, like Lina Tur Bonet, a violin player, but also shared that same disease, which Lina Tur Bonet suffered in her youth. This has made her feel even closer to Ravel, and to feel a desire to make a tribute to Hélène by recording all the pieces written for her and thanks to her.
The close friendship between the two lasted throughout the life of the composer and he often asked her for advice while composing his violin works. In their inexhaustible friendship he affectionately called her “Moune”.

Published in Paris in 1768, the Sei Sonate, Op. 5 (G 25-30), are Boccherini’s first compositions for keyboard, probably inspired by the playing of their dedicatee Mme. Brillon de Jouy, who Charles Burney considered to be one of the greatest keyboard players in Europe at that time. Boccherini met her while staying in Paris in 1767-1768 (from whence he had intended to go to London). This intimate friend of Benjamin Franklin Owned several harpsichords and ‘new’ pianos, including one sent from London by Johann Christian Bach, similar to the square piano made by Frederick Beck recorded here. Violinist Liana Mosca began studying her instrument at the Suzuki Talent Center in Turin. She received her degree at the Milan Conservatory, and began winning international competitions in 1987. She has recorded for several labels, and currently teaches at the Accademia Suzuki in Turin and is a Teacher Trainer with the Italian Suzuki Institute.
