Black Coffee is the first album by Peggy Lee. It was released in the 10-inch format in 1953 by Decca. In 1956, at the request of the record label, Lee recorded four more songs for a reissue of the album in the 12-inch LP format.

The entry at AllMusic.com erroneously states that the 1953 issue was an album of four 78 RPM records. The 2004 Verve Master Series compact disc reissue includes facsimiles of both the 1953 and 1956 LP covers front and back, and Will Friedwald identifies the release as a 10-in LP in the liner notes.

Recorded live in Miami on May 29th, 1959 in front of 2500 people at the 2nd annual Disc Jockey Convention.

Released in 1959, Beauty and the Beat! is an album by Peggy Lee, accompanied by the George Shearing Quintet. It was produced by Dave Cavanaugh.

Peggy Lee was accompanied by George Shearing and his quintet for a performance at a music industry convention in Miami in May 1959, marking the first time the two would work together. It has remained uncertain over the years how much of this album was actually recorded live during that technically-plagued concert and how much was reconstructed in the studio later. Nonetheless, it’s a swinging session including standards by Cole Porter, Duke Ellington, Benny Goodman and Rodgers and Hart.
