Perhaps the most prolific UK touring jazz group of the 21st century, the Nigel Price Organ Trio present their 8th release – this time there are no special guests, no add ons, just the raw trio. There are 5 original pieces, all dedicated to past and/or current jazz masters – (Pat Martino, Joey DeFrancesco, Shirley Scott, Stanley Turrentine) and arrangements that have been tried and tested during their lengthy tours, for which the group has become associated with.
It’s in this tight format that the three musicians really thrive. The three way conversation is constantly undulating and these masters of their respective instruments find all the space they need to deliver the blues soaked, soulful and ever swinging message.

Wes Reimagined is a collection of Wes Montgomery’s timeless tunes, respectfully reinterpreted. Nigel comments, “I haven’t tried to reinvent the wheel in any way – it’s just a kind of “what if?”. The great man’s tunes are played in the same spirit but with a little look at what might have been. So, ‘Leila’ moves from a cool ‘west coast’ vibe to an out and out burner, ‘Far Wes’to a waltz and ‘’Road Song’ from a bossa to a grooving shuffle.”

British guitarist and composer Nigel Price follows up his Heads & Tales released in 2011 with this double album, rooted in the blues and hard bop traditions, echoing the fluidity of the likes of Joe Pass, Wes Montgomery and Louis Stewart. On the first part, Price revels in his collaboration with Hammond organist Ross Stanley and drummer Matt Home. He is also joined by saxophonists Alex Garnett and Vasilis Xenopoulos on a number of tracks, adding further weight and dynamism to the guitarist’s material. The second session, intimately recorded entirely as solo guitar performances or duo overdubs, pulls into even sharper focus the demanding intricacies of Price’s varied technique.
