Deluxe three CD edition. 20th Anniversary Edition of Manic Street Preachers’ seventh studio album ‘Lifeblood’. Features many remastered tracks, b-sides, demos and outtakes, new liner notes by John Harris and unseen pictures by Mitch Ikeda. Also included is two brand new remixes of the lead track ‘1985’ by Steven Wilson (Porcupine Tree) and sometime collaborator Welsh artist Gwenno. Described by Nicky Wire as “our most estranged album of all” the record came at a time when the band were reflecting on what they had become and what they could be. The band looked to the music they had liked when they were young for inspiration, New Order circa ‘Low Life’, Prefab Sprout ‘Steve McQueen’, Thomas Dolby ‘The Flat Earth’, early Simple Minds, and the kind of cerebral electronic pop that dominated the early-to-mid 1980s. Wire said at the time “The main lyrical themes are death and solitude and ghosts. Being haunted by history and being haunted by your own past.” James Dean Bradfield commented “I loved making Lifeblood, because it was interesting. I loved chasing these other versions of what we were trying to do.”

Manics’ seminal album ‘This Is My Truth Tell Me Yours’ went to No.1 on its release in 1998 and stayed in the UK charts for more than a year before going on to sell over five million copies. It won the Brit Award for Best Album (and the band for Best Group) as well as multiple accolades at the NME and Q Awards that year. The album garnered the band’s first ever No. 1 single, ‘If You Tolerate This Then Your Children Will Be Next’. Now they release the 20 Year Collectors’ Edition of their fifth studio album. The Limited Deluxe Edition includes the original album remastered, unheard demos and live rehearsal recordings plus b sides and remixes from the likes of Massive Attack, David Holmes and Mogwai. The artwork features many unseen photographs by long-term collaborator, Mitch Ikeda.

The Ultra Vivid Lament’ is the 14th studio album from Manic Street Preachers. It is both reflection and reaction; a record that gazes in isolation across a cluttered room, fogged by often painful memories, to focus on an open window framing a gleaming vista of land melting into sea and endless sky.

The Manic Street Preachers will reissue their second album Gold Against The Soul in June this year.

The 1993 album features the singles ‘From Despair To Where’, ‘La Tristesse Durera (Scream to a Sigh)’ and ‘Roses in the Hospital’. This was the band’s second album and while the Manics have reissued The Holy Bible and Everything Must Go TWICE in the last 20 years, they’ve totally ignored Gold Against The Soul.

This changes soon and a two-CD deluxe edition features a remastered version of the album on CD 1 with non-album/B-sides appended to this disc (plus a live recording of The Clash song ‘What’s My Name’). The second CD features 11 previously unreleased demos, some remixes and a live track.

The Manic Street Preachers will reissue their 2001 album Know Your Enemy this September with CD and vinyl formats offering ‘remixed and reconstructed’ editions to form two separate albums, as was the original plan.

After the success of 1998’s This Is My Truth Tell Me Yours the band planned to follow up with two distinct long-players: an aggressive, rapid fire return to their roots called Solidarity and Door To The River, a more conciliatory, reflective collection. They got cold feet and ultimately issued Know Your Enemy which was commercially a successful album (reaching #2 in the UK and delivering four top 20 singles), but something of a fudge creatively, forcing often conflicting ideas to sit side by side on the same record.
