Lykke Li returns with her fifth studio album EYEYE. The album is an eight track story about lust, attraction, attachment, and rejection; the landscape of love. The songs are inhabited by moving images that neither start nor end. Each film functions as a visual loop, concise as a haiku, yet continuing in perpetuity. The result is a somatic, repetitious experience. Compounding chapters between a dream and reality.

Lykke Li has shared details of her incoming EP ‘still sad still sexy’. The Swedish artist is set to be a permanent fixture this summer, having sung on the lead single – and title track – of Mark Ronson’s forthcoming album ‘Late Night Feelings’. Set to support Florence & The Machine at British Summertime presents Hyde Park on July 13th, she’s certainly keeping busy. New EP ‘still sad still sexy’ matches remixes against newly recorded material, with the final version set to drop in just a few weeks. For now, Lykke Li has shared a newly remixed version of ‘sex money feelings die’, featuring guest spots from Lil Baby and snowsa.

Since I Never Learn in 2014, the Swedish queen of pop hasn’t released an album, to better come back with So Sad So Sexy. Through her almost childish voice and her quite melancholic tunes, Lykke Li works however with the big names of the genre. Among them, Jeff Bhasker (Kanye West), Malay (Frank Ocean, Zayn) and T-Minus (Drake, Nicki Minaj) who helped create the title Deep end. She reveals here a modern pop associated with electro percussion, vocalizations looking toward lyricism and sings an almost erotic poetry. It perfectly ties into the discovery of Two Nights, a title going crescendo and on which she is hypnotic. Indeed, this is not a little girl but well and truly a woman who draws us into a sensual dance in which the bodies touch slowly and with passion. For this duo, she calls upon the rapper Amine, who gives more rhythm to the performance without disturbing the charm of the Swede. And then, there is this surprising intro on acoustic guitar on Jaguars In The Air. Here lies Lykke Li’s talent, the ability to associate her electro pop, her vocalizations coated with a vocoder and her percussion to purely classical instruments. It’s a way to offer music that makes you dance but also allows for deeper listening, so much her compositions are overflowing with subtleties.  – Clara Bismuth

There has always been something captivating about Swedish singer/songwriter Lykke Li. From the minimalist mix of icy electronics and playful indie pop of her 2008 debut Youth Novels to the weightier, percussive anthems on 2011’s Wounded Rhymes, she has flexed her considerable creative muscle but never quite managed to dial in on a sound that would define her. She manages a tunefulness that aspires to great pop heights, yet retains the wintry austerity of her Nordic roots.
