Una giornata uggiosa is an album by the Italian singer and songwriter Lucio Battisti. It was released in January 1980 by Numero Uno. The album was Italy’s fifth best-selling album in 1980. It was also the last one to feature his collaboration with lyricist Mogol.

Una Giornata Uggiosa is mostly remembered as the last album Lucio Battisti would make with lyricist Mogol – the duo is widely considered the most influential songwriting partnership in Italian pop music. While the texts are markedly bitter than in their last effort, 1978’s Una Donna Per Amico, musically, Una Giornata Uggiosa follows in the footsteps of its predecessor for a collection of meticulously crafted, deceivingly upbeat ’80s synth pop. Once again, Battisti chose to cut this record in London, with producer Geoff Westley and an extensive list of studio pros, such as guitarist Phil Palmer, saxophonist Mel Collins, and bassist John Giblin.

Lucio Battisti is the first album by the Italian singer-songwriter Lucio Battisti. It was released in March 1969 by Dischi Ricordi.

The late Italian pop singer’s ’60s debut set the blueprint for a career that would elevate him from post-Dylan troubadour to a holding the stature of cultural iconoclast in his homeland. With classic ’60s production values, his singing was set against elaborate string sections and orchestrations that dabbled in psychedelia, when the market demanded it, and flirted with Baroque arrangements and grandiose song forms that were Beatles inspired, yet laced with Continental decadence. His true art was his ability to take simple texts and arrange them as transcendental poetry, thus he became the mouthpiece for the ’60s generation and struggled with all of the responsibilities of being such a figure in his life and art. His debut album is filled with all the inspiration and energy of an artist working in the new communication medium of the time, and often wearing on his sleeve his exposure to English language pop of the era, he codified the methods of Dylan, Beatles, and the Walker Brothers, and transformed them into a true folk music that would speak to a generation through the ensuing three decades. “Non è Francesca” and “Balla Linda” are two exquisitely desperate ’60s love songs featuring an inimitable Hammond organ, while “Un’avventura” and “29 Settembre” are glorious reminders of what late-’60s pop was all about.

Emozioni (Emotions) is an album by the Italian singer-songwriter Lucio Battisti. It was released in December 1970 by Dischi Ricordi. The album was Italy’s fourth-best-selling album in 1971.

Lucio Battisti’s second solo album is actually a compilation of A and B sides from the singles he released between 1966 and 1970. Even if it duplicates two songs from the singer’s debut, Emozioni is absolutely essential for Battisti fans – and a milestone of Italian popular music – as virtually every single track has achieved seminal classic status. But for the singer’s first two B-sides, 1966’s “Dolce di Giorno” and 1967’s “Era,” all selections were written by Battisti-Mogol, and many rank among the legendary songwriting team’s most beloved efforts: “Fiori Rosa, Fiori di Pesco,” “Dieci Ragazze,” “Emozioni,” “Acqua Azzurra, Acqua Chiara,” “Mi Ritorni in Mente,” and the two included on the first LP, “Non è Francesca” and “Io Vivrò (Senza Te).” Emozioni became Battisti’s first number one album in Italy, a feat he would perfunctorily repeat throughout the 1970s.

Amore e non amore (Love and non-love) is a concept album by the Italian singer and songwriter Lucio Battisti. It was released in July 1971 by Dischi Ricordi. The album focuses on the contraposition of “love” and “not-love”. As a result, the LP is split in two definite “sides”, each one made up of four songs: The “non-love” side, characterised by a rock and roll music style and lyrics referring to “non-love” situations (e.g. adultery, unrequited or obsessive love, etc.). The “love” side, characterised by instrumental tracks with long titles and a progressive rock music style. The album was Italy’s 10th best selling album in 1971, though no song from this disc became nearly as popular as those included in Battisti’s other albums from this period.
