In the ever-evolving landscape of contemporary classical music, composer Henning Fuchs is proving to be a trailblazer with his latest release COCOON. He combines a variety of genres and cultural influences to create his own world. It is the third album on the Neue Meister label. In terms of content, it deals with farewell, transformation and new beginnings – musically it is a unique combination of neoclassical elements and nuances from world music, pop and jazz. The boundaries of musical conventions are exceeded here. As a teenager, Henning Fuchs wanted to be a Greenpeace activist, impeding ships, drills and rigs from assaulting earth. But, dissuaded by his high- school biology grades, he chose to become a composer instead. His portfolio and back-catalogue are proof that Henning probably made the right choice, having been involved in several renowned albums, awarded film scoring and dance projects with the likes of Max Richter, Wim Wenders and Wayne McGregor. Yet the recent years saw the musician renew his teenage interest in the environment, as he embarked in a wide-reaching study of scientific theories and spiritual teachings about our planet. His investigation culminated in GAIA, his latest album.

Henning Fuchs is a music composer and musician. He has scored over 40 short films and documentaries. He assisted renowned composers and worked on more than 20 internationally acclaimed movies and tv-series. His songs and instrumental compositions have been nominated and awarded many times. From 2012 to 2016 Henning worked closely with Max Richter on film, album and theatre related projects. He writes: With the release of A New Beginning a dream has come true. When looking for inspiration I came across records from a trip to Finland I had taken after my studies in Liverpool. To get into the mood for composing, I projected slides of this journey onto the wall and listened to ideas from my old voice recorder, which I had sung, knocked and talked on during my trip.
