Le Souffle des légendes, ensemble Saxo Voce with Charles Berling (reciter), Frank Bradley (piano), Jean-Yves Fourmeau (alto saxophone), Karol Beffa (piano), under the direction of Johan Farjot, works by Karol Beffa, Francis Poulenc, André Caplet, Henri Tomasi.
The Saxo Voce ensemble offers us a French musical journey aboard its new album. On the program, Francis Poulenc’s sextet, André Caplet’s Legend, Henri Tomas’ Concerto, and a Musical Tale by Mathieu Laine set to music by Karol Beffa.
In 2012, Thibaut Canaval founded an ensemble bringing together the entire saxophone family… The saxophone is recognized and appreciated by the public, but has not managed to establish itself like the piano or the violin, it remains a young and unclassifiable instrument .
This singularity leads the Saxo Voce ensemble to produce transcriptions. He succeeded in highlighting the qualities of the saxophone, thus adapting more than thirty works by Bach, Mozart, Debussy, Ravel, Rachmaninov, Shostakovich, Prokofiev, Poulenc, Gershwin, Kodaly, Bernstein…
The Saxo Voce ensemble also wants to defend today’s music by soliciting young and old composers. The Saxo Voce ensemble has performed on France Télévisions and France Musique as well as on stages such as the Salle Cortot, the Seine Musicale, the Bal Blomet, Châteauvallon-Liberté, the National Theater of Zagreb…
1-3. Francis Poulenc (1899-1963), Sextuor ; 4. André Caplet (1878-1925), Légende ; 5-6. Henri Tomasi, Concerto ; 7-11. Karol Beffa, Le roi qui n’aimait pas la musique.

Formed in 2016, the Quatuor Agate derives its name from one of the most beautiful chamber music pieces, Johannes Brahms’s Second Sextet, dedicated to his second love, Agathe von Siebold.
Seven years later, this fascination with Brahms materialized with the release of their debut album on February 23 2024, featuring the complete String Quartets under Appassionato, le label.
A few weeks after the quartet’s inception, they embarked on their first venture—the creation of the CorsiClassic festival, an annual event in Ajaccio, Corsica. The festival’s mission is to bring chamber music to diverse audiences.

Renaud Capuçon, Gautier Capuçon and Frank Braley, well established as chamber-music partners, perform two of Beethoven’s greatest piano trios, the ‘Ghost’ and the ‘Archduke’. “Together, all three musicians have the quality that is the most priceless of all in playing chamber music,” wrote The Guardian when the Capuçons and Braley played the ‘Archduke’ at London’s Wigmore Hall, “they listen intently to each other and always take note of what they do. Their account of the Archduke Trio … had a tremendous sense of organic coherence.”

Universally recognised as the finest cellist of his generation, Gautier Capuçon has a firm reputation as a concerto soloist, recitalist and chamber musician. He is a regular performer with the Berlin Philharmonic, Concertgebouw Orchestra, London Symphony, Leipzig Gewandhaus, Los Angeles Philharmonic, San Francisco Symphony, Chicago Symphony, NHK Symphony, and at festivals such as Verbier and Lugano, and has won several awards at the ECHOS and the Victoires de la Musique.
Following on from last year’s live recording of the Shostakovich cello concertos, this album sees Gautier return to the studio with his friend and recital partner of many years, Frank Braley, in a programme of Beethoven’s Sonatas for Cello and Piano. In addition the album includes Beethoven’s wonderful variations on three different themes – two on arias from Mozart’s opera Die Zauberflöte, and the other from Handel’s Judas Maccabaeus. This is the first new recording of the complete Beethoven cello works for some time and is a long-awaited release.
