Three is the upcoming twelfth studio album by British electronic musician Four Tet. It is set to be released on 15 March 2024 through Text Records.
After the release of two solo albums in 2020, the musician collaborated with other artists, including Madlib, Skrillex and Fred Again, and fought a legal battle with the Domino Recording Company concerning streaming royalties in 2021 and 2022. Returning to solo endeavours, Hebden released the lead single of his forthcoming album “Three Drums” on 27 April 2023, “a wall of electronic noise” supported by a “laid back beat” and a hint of “early 90s hip-hop” The opening track “Loved” was released on 10 January 2024 and features a “slowed, mellow drum beat” combined with “soft keyboard sounds”.
The musician announced Three on 14 February, alongside the release of “Daydream Repeat”, described as “gorgeously hypnotic”. The album artwork was designed by Jason Evans and Matthew Cooper.[5] In promotion of the record, Hebden is set to host the “Four Tet & Friends” event in New York on 4–5 May with performances from Floating Points, UFO, and others.

“Darkness, Darkness” and “No Services” are two songs performed by Kieran Hebden and William Tyler. This is the first collaboration between Hebden, the producer and electronic musician also known as Four Tet, and Tyler, the Nashville-based guitarist and composer. William Tyler’s guitar parts for “Darkness, Darkness” were recorded by Jake Davis at Huge Planet in Nashville; his performance for “No Services” was recorded at The Tank in Rangely, CO.

This is the tenth studio album by the stalwart of the British electronic scene; Sixteen Oceans offers an hour-long journey through Four Tet’s inspired mind. The album which could too hastily be labelled ‘ambient’ starts off upbeat with School and Baby, a perfect warm-up with a 2-step beat and a “Take Me On” chopped vocal (a catchy Ellie Goulding sample). Granted, Harpsichord (featuring notes played on the instrument of the same name), Green and 4T Recordings (which resound like the soundtrack to a forest on Pandora) are pretty ambient, but they also prove that Four Tet is no one trick pony.

Kieran Hebden, best known by the stage name Four Tet, is an English post-rock and electronic musician. Hebden first came to prominence as a member of the band Fridge before establishing himself as a solo artist. Hebden’s music originally eschewed the traditional pop song format in favour of a more abstract approach—his sound and melodies incorporate elements of hip hop, electronica, techno, jazz, grime and folk music with live instrumentation. His newer works are inspired heavily by house music.

Intended as a teaser for his upcoming DJ Kicks compilation, ‘Pockets’ is a brand new track from Ol’ Curly Hebdon, and sees the London-based production maestro introducing a brusquer electronic sound to his post-jazz-electronica oeuvre. Brisk and to the point, ‘Pockets’ is a feel-good coalition of high-kicking synth stabs, fizzing electronics and a cascading set of beats that are breathless to the end. Showing that whilst his free-jazz escapades have been more than welcome, Four Tet still has something in the store for those who prefer his Percee P hook-up to the more abstract shenanigans. Backed by a minimalistic take on ‘Pockets’ (wherein the more excitable sheen is reduced to a much leaner and svelte electronic beast), Four Tet suggests that there’s more to Hebdon than well-intentioned collaborations. Pocket rocket!

Four Tet has released a pair of new albums: Parallel and 871. The two albums follow Kieran Hebden’s most recent full-length Sixteen Oceans, which came out earlier this year. Hebden recently revealed that he and Madlib had finished work on the reclusive producer’s solo album Solo Ancestors, sharing the single “Road of the Lonely Ones.” He teamed with Thom Yorke and Burial for a pair of songs—“Her Revolution” and “His Rope”—earlier this month.

A crazy tinkerer from the techno sphere, Kieran Hebden aka Four Tet pens a ninth UFO, of which he has a knack for creating. The bulimic British—who, when he doesn’t work on his own music, mixes for The XX, A$AP Rocky, Oneohtrix Point Never, Aphex Twin, Explosions In The Sky, Super Furry Animals, Radiohead, Ellie Goulding, Lana Del Rey, Manic Street Preachers, Sia and even Black Sabbath—pursues here his 360° electro-new age trip armed with the Ableton Live software. His world is atmospheric at times, overtly techno at other times, sometimes even world, and, in any case, completely impossible to pin down. Four Tet being absolutely eclectic (he had penned a splendid FabricLive volume in perfect line with his kaleidoscopically personality, an intense trip in 2-step and garage land where we notably crossed paths with Dan Snaith, his friend from Caribou, but also with Burial, Crazy Bald Heads and even the master Ricardo Villalobos), his disc looks like him more than ever. It’s some great piece of art with no blinkers on, conceived with Kaitlyn Aurelia Smith on synths (on LA Trance) and Tom Bake at the hang (on Lush).
