With his debut album “Inspiration” Florian Christl jumped straight on No. 1 on the iTunes Classical Charts. The 28-year-old is an autodidactic 21st century German contemporary classical composer, pianist, and arranger. His passionate, melodic compositions reflect his passion for music and inner emotions. His style can rightly be called “classical crossover,” and his music sounds right at home in the crossroads of 21st century “new classical” composers such as Max Richter and Ludovico Einaudi, and the cinematic sound of the late Johann Johansson.

Music is an amplifier for emotions, no matter whether joy, grief, happiness or enthusiasm. Music has a kind of magical power, which can lift all these feelings to an “divine” level. For a moment it feels as if we were more than ‘just’ human. This special power of music hides in every single moment and every little episode of our lives. By definition an episode is an event within a larger event, and that is exactly what this album is about. These small, perhaps irrelevant episodes are what ultimately shape us the most. It‘s time to leave life behind, to sink in thoughts to feel alive.

Florian Christl never formally studied composition or the piano. He simply sits down at the piano and writes music that lifts your thoughts and emotions, giving them free flight, like a dream for the soul. Inspiring, full of love, hope, longing and beautiful melodies. Florian grew up in a small town in Bavaria. He loves the outdoors, the quiet of the forest, and the peace of the mountains. His greatest passion has always been making music and he spent every free moment at the piano. During his studies Florian worked as a student trainee with Sony Music. One of his colleagues was so impressed by his music that she used some of his tunes for a presentational video and in a playlist. This is how the classical department became aware of Florian.

After his debut album” Inspiration ” 2018 immediately after its release at number one on the German iTunes classical Charts, Florian Christl subsequently delighted Fans of contemporary classical music in numerous concerts. His two tours through Germany and neighbouring countries are particularly noteworthy here. But especially his sold – out tour in Russia, which will be a double sequel in 2020 due to the overwhelming popularity of the audience in March and November. On the Album Release Tour in May 2020, Christl will present pieces of his new album “Episodes” to the German audience for the first time. The Album will be released on 08 May 2020 as well as his debut album with Sony Classical.

For his album “About Time”, pianist and composer Florian Christl has written pieces for piano and string orchestra for the first time. Thematically, he negotiates in his melodic, cinematic-atmospheric compositions the perception of time and the beauty that lies in the awareness of the transience of things “With this album I go in search of the moment, in search of the here and now. Focusing on what is now, it is about the awareness of the inevitable fleetingness and transience of life and the ability to recognize a fragile beauty in this fleetingness,” Florian Christl explains Great emotional moments orchestrated with wide-screen string sounds and intimate quiet moments portrayed in piano miniatures combine on “About Time” to create a poetic musical experience. For the recording of “About Time”, Munich-based pianist and composer Florian Christl collaborated with the NDR Radiophilharmonie and conductor Ben Palmer. Special guest on the album is violinist Niklas Liepe.
