The duo of Filippo Arlia and Cesare Chiacchiaretta, pays tribute to Argentinian composer, bandoneon player, and arranger Astor Piazzolla with these twelve tracks. For “Duettango” they are joined by Fernando Suarez Paz on the violin, and his daughter Cecilia on vocals. Piazzolla revolutionized the traditional tango into a new style termed “nuevo tango”, incorporating elements from jazz and classical music.

The album, entitled “E il vento ti ascolterà”, was born from the productive collaboration between the pianist Danilo Rea and the Orchestra Filarmonica della Calabria conducted by Filippo. Arlia. A musical experience that embodies the perfect fusion of different musical genres: on the one hand the pianism of Rea, the dreamy aura where reminiscences of immortal pop songs, imbued with jazz nuances, rise to the lyric; on the other hand all the sweetness and intensity of a classical orchestra, which can emphasize every single note. ” E il vento ti ascolterà “, “My man”, “Fiori di neve”, “Giulia Morik” the four songs that feature Rea with the Filarmonica della Calabria, a musical narra-tion that, naturally, takes on different facets and establishes a dialogue with the classi-cal world, to which belongs the last piece that completes this record, entrusted to the orchestra alone, “Les Preludes” symphonic poem by Franz Liszt. Here the orchestra expresses all its wisdom in a sublime performance, aimed at emphasizing the heroic character of the piece, interspersed with moments of pastoral consolation.

It is largely due to Astor Piazzolla that the bandoneon has become inextricably linked to the languid, sensual art of the tango. His renewal of its traditions – the so-called Nuevo tango – is exemplified by Aconcagua, a concerto for bandoneon, string orchestra and timpani of vivid imagination and rapid changes of mood that embodies the milonga, the improvised song of the Argentine. The six accompanying pieces are among Piazzolla’s most famous and evocative – works of poignant melody, profound melancholy and complex, uplifting beauty.

In the opera PAGLIACCI by Ruggero Leoncavallo, fiction and reality, life and the theatre and love and death are intertwined with the music for the staging of a drama inspired by a true story in black, a femicide (unfortunately very timely) took place in Montalto Uffugo during the childhood of the composer, and who had occupied the father, during his term of office as a magistrate in the small town of calabria. This one-act opera is characterized by a musical and dramatic continuity that poses an arduous challenge to the director, so that Pagliacci does not reduce itself to a series of famous pieces [how to Recitar! Dress the jacket n. d. r.] for exuberant voices, but you find in the most famous pieces, as many fundamental touches in the drawing of passions (from the notes of the booklet).
