Accompanied by drummer Éric Échampard and trumpeter Fabrice Martinez, Bruno Angelini dedicates his album Transatlantic Roots to certain figures he particularly admires in the United States and in particular to filmmakers whom he has followed for a long time. The preview title is dedicated to David Lynch, Spike Lee and Jim Jarmusch. “They have all developed a personal, original, sometimes intriguing, sometimes satirical, often poetic universe,” he says. “The title is also a nod to French cinema (Vincent, François, Paul and the others by Claude Sautet)”.

Andy Emler wished to work again with Marc Ducret more regularly. As a reminder, there was a record in quintet with Marc at the beginning of the 80s… More recently Andy invited Marc to join the MegaOctet, in particular in London and at the Europa Jazz Festival. The artistic closeness of both musicians is great, even if the way of their musical route diverges. Besides, the trio Emler, Tchamitchian, Echampard (13 years of existence, 3 CDs) is a formation which spreads its rich influence and its peculiarity in Europe. The music, fruit of a slow ripening, is marked by the formal requirement, and Andy’s respect for three musicians who play with. The quality of Andy’s compositions enables to highlight each personality and to put forwards a sound of group. A cleverly dosage between writing and improvisation. Years of friendships through multiple projects ended in a rare and exemplary complicity between these 4 virtuosos, for a most stimulating collective playing.
