Originally released on 10-inch vinyl in 1955 under the title Conte Candoli, this reissue from West Coast jazz trumpeter Conte Candoli shows a strong Miles Davis influence. The album is also notable for the performances of Candoli’s session musicians, specifically tenor sax player Bill Holman.

Trumpeter Conte Candoli recorded this 1954 session of jazz classics and standards in Los Angeles with his quartet consisting of pianist Claude Williamson, drummer Stan Levey and bassist Max Bennett. Candoli leaves his musicians lots of space for soloing; at the same time he doesn’t miss any opportunity to show off his own bop trumpet talent.
