Few composers represent the soul of the piano with such truth and are so deeply identified with their instrument. A century apart, Frédéric Chopin and Federico Mompou seem to belong to the same family, to those who know how to listen to the piano speak. In “Alter ego”, Célimène Daudet questions the close links between these two composers and pursues her lifelong quest to make the piano sing.

Composed around ten years apart, the preludes of the young Messiaen and of the artistically established Debussy show some amazing similarities, down to the poetry and mysticism of their titles.

For her first solo album with NoMadMusic, Célimène Daudet has created an imaginary connexion between the two composers, juxtaposing their works in order to emphasise their kinship.

Here are twenty preludes in the shape of soundscape postcards, twenty miniatures at the border of Impressionism, like so many snapshots of life and dreamlike evocations, from dead leaves in autumn to an imagined journey to Spain, from the thousand colours of fireworks to the sadness of a desolate landscape…

Some say that you have to reach a great maturity before daring to attack it. For her first solo album, Anna Göckel assumes with great temperament her choice to record one of the founding texts of the violin repertoire: Sonatas and Partitas by Johann Sebastian Bach.

A personal reading of a masterpiece so rich and dense that the young violinist imagines continuing to explore throughout his life … and why not re-record in a few years?

Coming from two cultures, French and Haitian, the pianist Célimène Daudet is a soloist whose acting and artistic commitment are recognized by audiences and the international press. She performs on different continents and has been invited to play at Carnegie Hall in New York, the Konzerthaus in Vienna and the Philharmonie de Paris.

After the success of her last album, dedicated to Messiaen and Debussy, Célimène Daudet returns to recording with another pairing, this time playing the last works of Scriabin and Liszt. In it, she invites us into an intriguing, enigmatic and almost mystical universe, a sort of final pilgrimage to the limits of piano’s sound possibilities. Built around the themes of night, death and mystery, this recital joins emblematic works such as Scriabin’s “Black Mass” Sonata (No. 9) and Vers la flamme to Liszt’s Lugubre gondola No. 2 and La Notte.
