Bert William Sommer (February 7, 1949 – July 23, 1990) was an American folk singer, songwriter and actor. He appeared in the musical Hair and at the Woodstock Festival, and released several albums as a singer-songwriter.

The eight five-star reviews on Amazon for “Road to Travel” (as of today) notwithstanding, I would say “Inside…” is a much better album… definitely Bert’s best (and I believe I have all Bert Sommer’s albums).
First, it includes the excellent near-hit-should’ve-been-one “We’re All Playing In The Same Band” & its flip side “It’s A Beautiful Day.” Then you get “Smile”, The Grand Pianist” & other good/decent/solid cuts. Even the cover of S&G’s “America” is not bad.
