Archical discovery of 2 alternate takes for the Invasion of Thunderbolt Pagoda soundtrack that we did for Arthur Magazine in 2006.

We got together over 2 nights in early 2006 at our Charlestown, MA HQ to record an alternate soundtrack for Ira Cohen’s “Invasion of Thunderbolt Pagoda” film that Jay Babcock and his Arthur Magazine was reissuing on dvd. He asked us and Acid Mother’s Temple to produce 2 alternate soundtracks to the film which to our shock would appear alongside Angus Maclise’s masterpiece. We played along to a VHS copy of the film through an old-school tube color TV.

Presented here are 2 other complete passes at the movie, I believe that the final version was a composite of a couple of takes but I can’t hear any of that music here, but I may be brain-damaged, who knows?

We did some performances of this live too, sometimes with Ira Cohen reading, which was always a lot of fun. We miss him.

This band is always about rolling the dice, especially live and sometimes it works, and sometimes it FAILS. You tell us what you think about these, we didnt think these cut the mustard for the release at the time, but they sound interesting now. the hard drive files lead me to believe that we did 6 takes of this but i could only find these 2 alternate completed files for now, check it out…
