“The Role of the Rhythm Section” is really special to me because it is pretty much the rhythm section from my big band, Dan Chmielinski and Bryan Carter, paired down and highlighted in our most intimate form.

We selected some of our favorite standards including Tea For Two, Softly As In A Morning Sunrise, Dolphin Dance, Stablemates, Celia and a few others — and just let ourselves go and play extremely spontaneously !

It was fun to approach the trio in that *spur of the moment* yet *big band* style.
