After tiding fans over with an acoustic EP earlier this year, Rhys Lewis shares full length record ‘Things I Chose To Remember’ – an album that, above all else, inspires to be present in the moment.

‘Things I Chose To Remember’ is all kinds of heavy. It’s honest, vulnerable and deeply personal. Emotion seeps out of every note, every line, every belted chorus. Rhys does a wonderful job at expressing a feeling through sound and it’s not limited to heartbreak and sorrow. Delicate piano ballad ‘Better Than Today’ gives a voice to his unbroken optimism that shines through in cautiously hopeful lyricism. “I was deeply saddened by the Trump and Brexit chapter in politics,” Rhys says about the inspiration behind the track. “It showed how disenfranchised everyone felt, and also how misunderstood we feel not just with politics, but with each other.”

Bitter sweet tracks like ‘When Was The Last Time’ and ‘What If’ break hearts with soft soundscapes and urgent vocals but the album finds its true colours in the songs that go a little further, break the fourth wall if you will, and plant seeds of a deeper meaning. Eco-conscious anthem ‘What Wild Things Were’ is a call to action and implores us to do better while ‘Hold On To Happiness’ addresses the fleeting of time, the importance of living every day to its fullest potential through introspective lyricism – “Life’s just a moment, so know when it’s golden.”

Rhys Lewis has already made a name for himself as an artist with a knack for immersive melodies and a soaring belt. ‘Things I Chose To Remember’ drives the point home and promises to be the start of something great.
