Actually, the Deutsches Symphonie Orchester should have played in the Philharmonie Berlin. Then came the new event stop. Now an ensemble of the orchestra performs: The Polyphonia Ensemble Berlin plays Dezette by Th’eodore Dubois and Andr’e Caplet.

In 2020, concerts took place at the very beginning and in the summer, but this year everything is different than before. This concert by the Polyphonia Ensemble Berlin is symptomatic of the ups and downs of the current concert organization: the Deutsches Symphonie Orchester should have played in the Berlin Philharmonie. In a versatile program, the orchestra and its audience would have taken different perspectives on Wagner. The “Wagner perspectives” soon became “Viennese perspectives”, so that the concert can still take place under the changed measures to combat the corona pandemic. But eventually the orchestra had to overturn this plan. Instead of playing in front of a physically present audience, the entire orchestra does not play, but only a part of it exclusively for the Dlf radio listeners.

The Polyphonia Ensembles Berlin consists of musicians from the DSO. At short notice, they recorded a chamber music program on 20 November at the Jesus-Christus-Kirch in Berlin Dahlem: works for ten participants by the French composers Th’eodore Dubois and Andr’e Caplet.
