The Soviet Space Dog Project is being manned by Andy Bloyce, a Londoner who has been listening to Klaus Schulze and Tangerine Dream for over 40 years. It’s nearly time for a sit-down.
Why “Frequency Domain”…? The short explanation is that my head was into playing with some different sounds and getting them to sit right with each other.
The slightly longer explanation is that I was reminded by my personal KDM that I needed to surprise people sometimes. Given the way that I create my music it’s fair to say that I surprise myself most of the time; however, I do tend to stick to my palette of sounds, changing slowly – and I do have favourites. I stretched out beyond those favourites here (but not that far) and I did still sneak in quite a few old ones when no one was looking.

Como ejemplo de la invasión de orquestas y solistas de segunda linea, que emigraron a EEUU en la mitad del siglo pasado, les presento esta asociación entre Johnny Martínez y Johnny Cheda. No es latin jazz pero se desenvuelven muy bien con los “ritmos del momento”. Tiene el encanto de la sencillez. Y rebosa dignidad por todos lados. Se parece mucho a Al Castellanos, a Mongo Santamaría, en sus origenes, y hasta a Joe Cuba. Esta reedición se la debemos a Palladium, una marca de freshsounds records que tanto han hecho por recuperar la música de aquella época en todas su variantes. Originariamente podría estar grabado para Seeco que era una especialista en este género.

The Alex Hiele Paris Jazz Combo consists of founder, arranger and producer, Alex Hiele on bass, Steve Rice on keyboards and accordian, David Stier on drums and Rob Hencke on Trumpet. The quartet have released three albums: Once Upon A Summertime, I Love Paris and French touch. The albums all feature unique jazz arrangements of popular music from well known composers including George Gerhwin, Michel Legrand and various French composers. Sundial Trio, previously known as Jachna/Tarwid/Karch, released their 4th album, „IV”. It’s already been eight years since the debut, „Sundial” was recorded. The band has changed in various ways until now. The trio has performed at many festivals, such as Hevhetia Festival, Warszawa Singera, International Jazz Piano Festival in Kalisz. And not only was there a saxophonist Irek Wojtczak appearing on the previous album („Sundial III”). There is also a new drummer from now on, Krzysztof Szmańda replacing Albert Karch.

The “Hellier” 1679 violin and the “Sabionari” 1679 guitar are two wonderful instruments made in the same year by Antonio Stradivari, the greatest violin maker of the history. For this recording, effected in the Auditorium Giovanni Arvedi at Museo del Violino di Cremona, the Hellier violin and Sabionari guitar have been made available on an entirely exceptional basis to two famous Italian artists: Federico Guglielmo and Diego Cantalupi . The exceptional nature of the two instruments, and in particular the wonderful decorations of the Hellier violin, inspired the choice of musical pieces and the title of the cd: Baroque extravagances.

Sir Georg Solti KBE (born György Stern; 21 October 1912 – 5 September 1997) was a Hungarian-British orchestral and operatic conductor, known for his appearances with opera companies in Munich, Frankfurt and London, and as a long-serving music director of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. Born in Budapest, he studied there with Béla Bartók, Leó Weiner and Ernő Dohnányi. In the 1930s, he was a répétiteur at the Hungarian State Opera and worked at the Salzburg Festival for Arturo Toscanini. His career was interrupted by the rise of the Nazis’ influence on Hungarian politics and, being of Jewish background, he fled the increasingly harsh Hungarian anti-Jewish laws in 1938. After conducting a season of Russian ballet in London at the Royal Opera House he found refuge in Switzerland, where he remained during the Second World War. Prohibited from conducting there, he earned a living as a pianist.

Sand is a Fields composition for 20 instrumentalists, three singers, and conductor. It combines three areas in which he has often worked: modularity, manipulation of text, and integration of composition and improvisation.
Like Fields’ previous modular works, Sand is constructed of units whose interrelationships vary from weak to strong. In performance a conductor spontaneously selects, combines, sequences, and layers modules. Sand also includes improvisational elements within structures and “organic cues,” in which characteristics of a musician’s natural performance, such as the duration of a single slow stroke of a bow or a single breath determines the timing of cues to other instrumentalists.
Sand, as with Fields’ most recent modular works, is constructed of a small number of melodies, phasing patterns, long tones, and organic cue sets that are fragmented according to a simple mathematical formula. The lyrics for the singers consist of short stories that Fields has written. Like the instrumental parts, the lyrics are fragmented into modules.
