Introducing a collection of Clérambault’s gems by the French Baroque cantata (Cantata Francaise) and the ensemble Les Zolfe, whose repertoire is chamber music.

Recognized by King Louis XIV of the Sun, Nicola Clérambault is a composer known as the treasure of Baroque, France. He released five cantatas and five independent cantatas in his lifetime. Born in France, the French cantata, called the cantata francaise, alternates between three recitatifs and ales, and the last ale is a pattern (especially in the early days) where lessons are often given, but Clérambault’s. The work does not necessarily follow this, and it has a unique charm with a free style, such as shifting to Recitatif in the middle of the ale.

“Orufe” recorded here is a masterpiece that represents not only Clérambault but also Cantata Francaise. The subject matter is taken from the famous Orfeo (Orfeo) and Euridice (Uridis). A masterpiece full of Clérambault’s originality, ending with a scene of joy when Orfeo asked for Euridice to be returned in the land of Yomi and was allowed to bring it back, and the music ended with an ale written in B major.
Other recorded sonatas, etc., also have outstanding improvisations with the characters of each movement. The recording that captures the tone of the instrument in a smooth and rich manner is also very wonderful, and the world of graceful and delicate Clérambault expands abundantly.
