One of the most iconic and influential albums of all time, “The Dark Side Of The Moon” by Pink Floyd, celebrates its 50th anniversary in 2023.
The new deluxe box set includes a CD and gatefold vinyl of the studio album remastered by James Guthrie, as well as a Blu-ray and DVD featuring the original 5.1 mix and a remastered stereo version. The set also includes a new Blu-ray disc with the Atmos mix, as well as CD and LP of “The Dark Side of The Moon – Live At Wembley Empire Pool, London, 1974”.
An early version of “The Dark Side of The Moon” was premiered at the Rainbow Theatre in London a few months before the band went into the studio. It was recorded in two sessions in 1972 and 1973 at EMI Studios (now Abbey Road Studios) in London. It is Pink Floyd’s eighth studio album and was originally released in March 1973. The iconic album packaging, depicting a prismatic spectrum, was designed by Storm Thorgerson of Hipgnosis.

On the new longplayer Crime Scene this Bavarian Artrock institution directs it’s attention to the morbid, the perverse, the evil in good, the abysses of the human behavior spectrum in all it’s unpredictable diversity, which sometimes comes across as bizarrely disturbing and conclusive, if one tries to fathom it. In six densely atmospheric tracks RPWL have once again embarked on intensive journeys through their own band vita, as well as their own record collections. The effort of comparisons is always such a thing, because after all this is the 19th release of this internationally successful band. The partly morbid-dark themes are countered with old-school fuzz, the almost 13-minute “King of the World” with it’s growling big muff and it’s flat vibes, or “Life beyond Control”, which with it’s offbeat use must surely belong to the heaviest pieces in the RPWL discography, make their confession on the Crime Scene. The former Floyd-eleven know about the eternal comparisons, but here at the latest it’s about the dark side of the soul, you can let pigs fly and some criminals you wish better not to be here…”Live in a Cage” brings the calculation of the as always meticulous sound design of this new RPWL album to the point, seamlessly follows “Red Rose”. Band-aid on gunshot wound as a principle. But the delusion of normalized violence wafts in so many households beneath the supposed harmony that the four musicians here would have the listener believe. How does it feel to have no concept of freedom at all, but the fear of leaving bourgeois security is greater? In the lockdown year 2020 alone, the police recorded over 119,000 cases of intimate partner violence, 139 of which were fatal, directed in over 80% of cases against the female part in the relationship. Yogi Lang comments from an artistic perspective that he has always been fascinated by social and personal shadow sides. Kalle Wallner asks the Gretchen question of how to deal with evil itself: “Who makes us who we are? Is it a question of genetics or is it social circumstances, our childhood, strokes of fate, pressure or offenses?” Evil’ forms one of the core themes on Crime Scene, which shall be released via the band’s own label Gentle Art of Music, distributed by Soulfood, on March 17th 2023.

When Buchanan was two years old, his family moved to Pixley, California, where his father had found work on a farm. At the age of nine, he got his first guitar from his parents. Despite several years of teaching, Buchanan never learned to read sheet music, but played by ear. “His” guitar was the Fender Telecaster, with which he created wah-wah sounds (even without an additional pedal).

Robin Stevens manages to blend the often dominating clarinet with subtle warmth and colour with the strings, giving the Clarinet Quintet a distinctive character of its own.
An important strand in Stevens’ compositional output since 2007 has been writing music for relatively neglected instruments such as the tuba, the piccolo and the bassoon, and this strand was strengthened in the autumn of 2015 when he wrote a collection of six pieces for double bass and piano, to which Chasing Shadows and Obsession belong.
The Fantasy Trio (2009) is a relatively rare instance of a substantial chamber work combining the classical guitar with mainstream orchestral instruments. The Romantic Fantasy for flute (doubling piccolo), B flat clarinet, string quartet and harp (2010), is written for the same forces as Ravel’s ground-breaking Introduction and Allegro. The Romantic Fantasy is an ambitious work in one movement, an unbroken span of twenty three minutes’ music.

In „The Voice of Casals”, Roger Morelló Ros wants to pay homage to the genius of Pau Casals as the most important artist and humanist of the 20th century in Catalonia.
The selection of works from the album aims to be a portrait of the most relevant musical taste and also the most beloved authors by the master, starting with Bach’s iconic suites, cello studies that Casals unearthed to turn them into solo concert material or the Suite for cello solo by his disciple Gaspar Cassadó. In addition, with „Les voix humaines” by Marin Marais, he plays with the title of the CD, a project that wants to give continuity to the legacy of Pau Casals together with the inclusion of commissioned works by Elisenda Fàbregas and Marc Migó, in homage to the figure and the land where he belonged.

Le terme “Nuit américaine” qui nous rappelle de toute évidence la lettre d’amour au cinéma signée en 1973 par François Truffaut, désigne une technique cinématographique permettant de tourner en plein jour des scènes d’extérieur censées se dérouler la nuit. Un procédé qui n’est pas sans évoquer les couleurs et la ligne directrice de cet album.
Lorsque j’ai rencontré Robin Mansanti, j’ai découvert un artiste sensible et déterminé, animé d’un amour de la musique qui ne connaît pas de limite. Il n’a pas fallu longtemps avant que nous évoquions Chet Baker. Il connaît tout à son sujet, les dates, les photos, les films et bien évidemment les enregistrements… Sa passion est touchante, généreuse et communicative.
C’est le musicien, avec le Brésilien João Gilberto, qu’il écoutait gamin et qui fit naître chez lui l’envie de chanter et de devenir trompettiste. Son phrasé, ses solos constituent son alphabet.
Lorsque l’idée de ce premier album est née, jamais il ne fut question d’éluder cette passion, elle est dans l ‘ADN de Robin.

Roberto Prosseda (born 1975) is an Italian classical pianist. Prosseda began composing for the piano at the age of four, and took his first private piano lessons at six. In 1985, he entered the Conservatorio Ottorino Respighi in Latina, where he studied piano with Anna Maria Martinelli, graduating in 1994. He went on to study with Alexander Lonquich, Boris Petrushansky and Franco Scala at the Accademia Pianistica “Incontri col Maestro” in Imola, and with Dmitri Bashkirov, Leon Fleisher, William Grant Naboré, Charles Rosen, Karl Ulrich Schnabel, Fou Ts’ong at the International Piano Foundation in Cadenabbia (Lake Como, Italy). Prosseda has won major prizes in several piano competitions, including the Umberto Micheli competition in Milan, the Franz Schubert competition in Dortmund, the Alessandro Casagrande competition in Terni, and the Mozart competition in Salzburg. Prosseda completed his PhD in Italian Literature from La Sapienza University in Rome. Prosseda and his wife, concert pianist Alessandra Ammara, perform as a piano duo.

With this record Foné is inaugurating a series of the complete recordings of the Sonatas and Partitas for Solo Violin by Johann Sebastian Bach interpreted by the violinist Roberto Michelucci. Even if much of Bach’s chamber music has been irredeemably lost making it impossible to follow the entire evolutionary arch of his style, the surviving works, nevertheless, give us an exact measure of the level of perfection that Bach reached in this musical genre. As do his compositions intended for other solo instruments, his Sonatas and Partitas for Solo Violin also attain peaks which will be difficult to superceed. At the end of the Seventeenth Century polyphonic writing for violin in Germany had already reached a high degree of accomplishment. According to contemporary witnesses, among whom Mattheson was a creditable musician in his own right, many German violinists distinguished themselves far and wide by way of the polyphonic character of their performances. Nikolaus Bruhns sat at the organ realizing, with the pedals, harmonic passages while simultaneously playing them on the violin. Another respected violinist, Nikolaus Struck, astounded Corelli during a stay in Rome in 1686 by playing double stops on the violin. Corelli, both surprised and amused, is said to have exclaimed: “I am called Archangel (Arcangelo), but you should be called Archdevil!”

The music of Richard Williams and his family suggests what country blues music in Florida might have sounded like in the early part of the 20th century.
